Executive Committee Report, Cal:
- If you have Western Forester articles, or are thinking of producing articles, please get them submitted.
- There are 6 delinquent members in Juneau Chapter.
- There are a number of award committees working to find candidates. If you are thinking of nominating someone, you need to have completed packages to Cal by April 19 so he can get them submitted by the due date.
- For the annual meeting Foresters Fund, Wayne is leading the charge.
Arbor Day:
- May 20.
- Juneau Chapter will thin a test plot for riparian management along Duck Creek.
Walk in the Woods:
- Will be at Peterson Creek. We need to get organized and our stuff together.
Tongass Centennial:
- The totem pole project is on hold. We seem to have hit a wall.
- While a good idea, it does not seem that we are going to be able to pull it off.
Gold Rush Display:
- Members need to collect old pictures (last 100 years) of before and after shots of early harvesting to mount on an 8’ X 8’ display board.
- John Sandor is going to be asking for some help to put this together.
Science Fair:
- A huge success.
- Wayne will do article for Western Forester.
- We need to get our support letter to the school earlier next year so the students have time to respond to our theme.
Community Forestry:
- Dan is leaving and there will be a vacant position on the Juneau Tree Committee. He is looking for a volunteer to get involved and fill this position.
- The State Tree Committee is also looking for volunteers.
- The Millennium Grove has been partially planted and will be finished in the spring.
Next Meeting: May 9, 2002, Prospector, 12-1:30.
Respectfully submitted,
James Bartelme
Secretary/Treasurer
