The March Monthly meeting was hosted with the Alaska Forest Association’s Timber Issues Session on March 14 from noon until three pm at the Baranof Hotel. The Society Members participated in discussions about the following issues:

1. State—Timber sale program, Legislative report, Interior & South Central AK, and USFS Memorandum for cleanup standards;
2. Science & Research—Log transfer facility bark studies and Juneau Economic Development Center;
3. Litigation—Tongass Land Management Plan, Roadless, Goshawk and Essential Fish Habitat;
4. Federal—Timber sale program, Resource Advisory Committee, Kiln grants, Legislation and CLMP; and,
5. Sustained Forest Certification.

There was no business meeting by the SAF.

The next SAF meeting is April 11, 2002.
